I discovered Cyclo by chance, wandering around Shoreditch with some friends of mine.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite vietnamese place in London!
The veg spring rolls are absolutely brilliant! I really like the Pho and the Noodles!
Highly recommended! -

I had a banh mi from here twice, as takeaway lunches. It was OK. The first time service was really slow in making the banh mi. The second time, there was a bit too much sauce and oil inside.
Definitely not the best banh mi I've had, but it is a reasonable option for lunch. -

Whilst compared to the many great Vietnamese restaurants in the Shoreditch area, Cyclo is indeed not in the same league, I do feel that the overall compilation of reviews it has gotten here do seem quite harsh. So although I do not have much to say about the restaurant as it didn't leave much of an impression on me, I feel compelled to say that my experience was not that bad. As you can see from my photos, the food looked presentable and were decent portions; everything was ok as far as I could tell, just not particularly remarkable.

Pros:
+Decent broth in pho
+Lots of space
+Has bahn mi, bun hue, pho, salad options
+Hoisin and sriracha sauces on table
Cons:
-Small portions (Spicy Chicken Salad was really small)
-Broth lacked seasoning/flavor compared with Mien Tay or Song Que
-Weird tasting meat
-Pricey, relative to the quantity
-Summer rolls were so scrawny
You might as well go 10 minutes down to Kingsland Road and search for a better place. This was a bit disappointing. -

I was excited to see a new Vietnamese place open in the area. We're already spoilt for choice with several on Kingsland Road, but it's nice when a new place comes along. I ordered the meal I use as a litmus test for Vietnamese restaurants - grilled/bbq pork with vermicelli. Unfortunately it just wasn't up to scratch. It was a bit tasteless and lacked the lemongrass, ginger and chilli flavour of others in the area. The portion was also pretty small, although this may be because I took it away instead of eating in. If it was anywhere else, I probably would have rated it as acceptable, but with so much competition in the area, it's not off to a good start. I will probably revisit to make sure I wasn't being to harsh, or that they weren't experiencing teething problems. I'm going to rate a cautious 3 for now.
